Our Model of Support
Our Model of Care:
It’s Not What We Say, It’s How We Do It
At Standshill Supported Living, care isn’t just a checklist — it’s a genuine commitment. We don’t simply talk about person-centred care; we live it every day through our therapeutic approach, inclusive culture, and focus on meaningful outcomes.
Led by our Registered Manager, Gerry, we embed a trauma-informed and therapeutic perspective into everything we do. Every decision — from how we recruit our team to how we plan daily routines — is shaped by compassion, respect, and a deep understanding of the person behind the need.
Our goal is simple: to create an environment where people feel safe, empowered, and supported to live life on their own terms.

Our Model of Care:
From Values to Outcomes
Stage One: Our Values (Foundation)
- Compassion – Seeing the person, not just the need.
- Respect – Valuing individuality and choices.
- Inclusion – Building a culture where everyone belongs.
Stage Two: Our Approach (How We Work)
- Trauma-Informed Practice – Understanding & responding to past experiences.
- Therapeutic Support – Embedding recovery-focused methods in daily life.
- Person-Centred Planning – Tailoring every plan to individual goals & strengths.
Stage Three: Our Delivery (What We Do)
- Safe, high-quality supported living environments.
- Staff trained in therapeutic and inclusive practice.
- Collaborative work with health teams, housing, and families.
Stage Three: Our Outcomes (The Impact)
- Greater independence and life skills.
- Improved emotional wellbeing.
- Stronger community connections.
- Long-term placement stability.

Therapeutic,
Trauma-Informed Practice
We work with people who’ve often faced layers of adversity. So, we create a space where they can rebuild safely. Our team is trained in models like PACE and the Recovery Star, helping us respond to behaviour through curiosity, not control — and always with empathy.
We follow national guidance and CQC expectations around:
- Kind and compassionate care
- Respecting and involving people
- Supporting autonomy and decision-making under the Mental Capacity Act
- Working in a safe and well-led culture
